Okay, i think that any of the RPG makers do not have all the stuff that Gamemaker has that we could really use in this project. so i'm gonna make a pros and cons list to making this a GM project
Pros: 1.This thing has online capability. that means trainer linkage and more possibility for a second version. 2.it has a lot more options as far as coding goes. we can do the things we really need to get coded easily. 3.infinite saves. this thing can do an upload file thing so people can basically make however many saves they want. 4.i've seen something like this done on GM before Cons: 1. charas calls us blood traitors (jk jk) 2. the coding is coding. some things will be quite hard 3. spriting for the most parts is tough. most RM2K resources will not work 4.It costs to get pro edition, which has quite a bit of the functions we will need, including online capability

And the biggest con ever: All sprites and such we made, all the coding I did for the battle system, thats all for 2k3. We cant change it now. And I dont think anyone of the team know how to work on game maker

RPG maker XP has no limits color wise. But I tried learning how to code in Ruby (RmXP) and in GML (Gamemaker), DID NOT GO OVER TOO WELL.
Sure, trading would be a nice feature, but its definite not too necessary for this game.

Well, if you find a way to do all the things Lucas did then I guess we could at least consider it. I can't seem to find a reason at the moment at least.
And it's ot like the colour limitations are stopping me in any way, there are always ways to work around the problems.

256 colors are enough for any sprite, I think, unless you are doing an rainbow pokemon who have lots of shading. In fact, most of sprites, when you open then at Idraw and clicks on "Show unused colors" it show many, many colors. And photoshop can turn RGB sprites in indexed colors not to losing quality many times.
